Random Thought: Bathtub on Steriods

People are watching...

So, last night while lifting with Scary Trainer, I went to the bathroom for a bio break during the 5 minute rest I get between the superset things or whatever they are called. I had just finished up a vessel-bursting 12-minute set of alternating squat-to-press and cable rows.

I don't know why I have to take these stupid bio breaks. It's like the muscles are being so tight during the lifting that they are squeezing all of the water out of my body! Anyway, I digress...

So I come back from the bio break and my heart rate is finally settling down and this big burly guy, who is apparently working out, comes over to me and says something like, "I was watching you and I can't believe you did that."

"I told him (SCary Trainer) that there was no way I could have done what you did."
Oh. Really? Me??? Well...
"And I want you to know that I think it's pretty impressive."
Well... why, thank you...

So the guy walks away and Scary Trainer told me that he had a little conversation while I was on my bio break and that he hadn't planned on telling me because he didn't want to let it go to my head. LOL.

Well, now.

That's different.

Well, you will HAVE TO REBOOT!!!

What do you MEAN you've shut your computer down?

It's ONLY 4 pm.
The work day is not over.
And YES, I need that spreadsheet now!
Because I have to review it.
We are already overbudget on travel this year.
And I have to consolidate it.

Then send it back for reprioritzation.
And then fill out another spreadsheet for my boss.
And then he wants it by Friday.
BEFORE he leaves India.
And they are 10.5 hours AHEAD of us.

We have 9 people staying with us for the Marathon in April.
Four couples and a single.
Unless that single's spouse decides to come and then we have five couples.
That's TEN people in case anyone is counting.

We have 3 official, finished bedrooms along with a library that we can put an Aerobed into the library and a workout room that we can put two people in.

If we have to, we can also clear out enough space to put someone into the Green Living room down stairs.

Scary Trainer Update

So, I have had a lot of thoughts about this training thing swirling around in my head for a while now so I decided to post them all down to get everyone up to speed with where I am.

I started this the first week of January when my Hunny Bunny, tired of my bitching and moaning in the last 2 years minimum about my fat-weight-flab-heft, got me a 6-month membership to the gym up the street, complete with 10 personal training sessions.

Some women might not think this was such a good gift. I, however, think it's one of the best gifts I've ever received. Of course, my Hunny Bunny has a knack with giving the best gifts. Anyway...

So it's been about 7 weeks and I have lost a total of 8 pounds at my lowest eight. Every four weeks, Scary Trainer mixes up the routine and if I don't like something in it, then too bad for me because I am stuck with it until the 4 weeks are up.

He creates two routines - one for each of the two days that I work out with him. And we alternate between those every single week.

How does diet fit into it? I cannot express how important diet is! I have learned this the hard way. The first two weeks, I was eased into an eating regimen that was pretty flexible. Of course, I couldn't have any pizza and rice. Phase II of the diet was pretty hard. It lasted 3 weeks with the last day of week three being a cheat day. Now I am into Phase III. I am rotating through Phase II, two days at a time. On the 7th day, on Saturdays, I have a cheat day. So far so good.

The best part of this is that when I feel like I can't make it another day, I can have that piece of bread or that piece of fruit that I couldn't have yesterday. And I can always wait at least one day for something I want. It's not going to float off the planet, after all.

I have also found that Saturdays are good cheat days for me because I am running around without a set schedule and those are the days when I am most apt to go out and eat or to an event or party. Fridays aren't an issue because I can have some carbs and I tend to just come home and crash or go to a nice quiet dinner with Joseph.

I am on Phase III indefinitely until I lose all the weight and fat that I want to lose. If I plateau, Scary Trainer will mix things up and give me a different amount of food to eat.

One of the other good things about this is that by the time I reach my cheat day, I do not reach for the carbs at all. I still take small helpings. The good news is that I can eat 8 times a day if I want to instead of 5 or 6 times and I can have that red bean mochi instead of an apple or nuts.

Right now he thinks that I have gained considerable muscle mass. He says there is no way that I could have increase weights and rep every single workout like I have been unless I have developed some muscle mass. And last night was no exception! So those 8 pounds could represent a 10 or 11 pound loss with a 2 or 3 pound muscle gain.

So, even though it seems hard it really isn't. I guess with everything, it's about setting your mind to it and just executing.

I do know that having gone through weeks of this, there is no way I could have done this alone. I know all the info, all of the exercises, etc. But I didn't know how to put it all together. And then I would be second guessing myself as to if I was doing it right.

So, Scary Trainer notwithstanding, along with all those icky exercises I hate like that stupid chin up and woodchop thing, it's working.

And I am really really happy about that!

Post Scary Trainer Recovery Run - NOT!

Why, oh why, do I think that I can run the morning after an evening training session with Scary Trainer?

Because I am a dolt.

Got on the treadmill this morning.
Don't know why.
I just kept thinking that since Joseph was on the bike I had to run.
It's not like we share the same bike.
So it was definitely a brain cramp.
It wasn't until I got up to the workout room that I realized I could ride my bike. But it was too late. By that time, I had spent time getting ready to run. And I take LOTS 'O TIME getting ready.

And so... at 12 minutes, I stopped.

So... lesson learned.
Until the next time I forget.

A bit of a breather

Well. My new boss is in India and I am getting a bit of a breather.
I decided to take the opportunity to work from home.

Thank goodness!!

When he's around, I am in and out of his office. Talk about kicking you're a$$! Last week, I felt like I was living with him in his office! But, I will say that he is amazingly approachable, highly experienced, and very supportive.

However, he can be a bit of a lecturer and micromanager. Which I told him he was and that I didn't like that aspect of him, which he dutifully acknowledged.

I will take the bad with the good any day, having moved from another very nice manager who was more junior and couldn't make a damn decision to save his life.

Anyway... I am hoping that he travels a lot.
A Whole Lot.


The Faker Pretenders


So I find out TODAY from my sister, the NCAA Basketball FREAK, the ACC Madam, the Carolina UBER FAN, that our Alma Mater is flying up to Boston to play that Faker Pretender team, the BC Eagles!

As in 5 day.

So, Carolina doesn't have any more seats.
And I looked on the BC site and the only seats I like are around $400 each! And I have stuff going on this weekend I can't really reschedule. And WHO WANTS TO SIT WITH THE FAKER PRETENDER FANS???

I guess I could cancel the stuff I have on Saturday, if I really think about it.

All I know is my sister is fired as my official ICIA (Important Carolina Info Alerter).


Week 8 Training Recap

Last week was sort of a blah week. I still don't know how to juggle cardio with weight lifting. The morning after my weight lifting, I am exhausted!!! The only way I can get some sort of workout in is to do an easy bike or walk. I hate walking. And now I have to do these intervals and I discovered my mistake when I tried to do it less than 12 hours after my weight training the night before. Yeah. Stupid. So, I am still working on it. I can feel that this is gonna be a long one.
Monday: Run 30 minutes. Lift (SWITT) in the evening. Okay. 20 miles on the bike in the morning and weights in the evening. That was okay. Seesm like running the same morning that I have weight training in the evening is okay from a physical tiredness perspective. I am starting to piece my experiences together.

Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes. I tried my first hand at intervals. To start out, I run or walk to warm up for a few minutes. Then I run like the devil himself was chasing me for 10 seconds. Then I slow down for a minute. Repeat 12 times. Then I finish up with 15 to 20 minutes of easy running. First of all, I ran a sub 7:00 pace. Whatever.

Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the evening. Lesson two. Never do a evening weight lifting followed by a morning interval. I am so tired and sore right now that I can't even think much less do anything. I took the morning off. And rested up for the evening weight training session. Sheesh. I feel old.

Thursday: Bike 45 minutes. Okay. Weight training took a lot out of me so I had the best intentions of getting on the bike after work. As I have mentioned many times, I never quite can get out of work in time. And my way to Hell is being paved as we speak! So I am counting this as an official rest day. Whatever.

Friday: Run 30 minutes. Ran 3.95 miles. Can I tell you how tied I am? Work is also killing. KILLING ME!

Saturday: Bike 45 minutes. 20 mile bike ride. I am soooo happy I could get this workout in. I have also hit my all time lowest weight in about 3 years. Ask me how happy I am???

Sunday: Run/Walk 60 minutes. a good 5.6 mile run. I am very happy. But of course, I was too tired to go to the gym. Of course.

Total Running Miles: 11.6 miles (record: 26.9 miles)
Total Biking Miles: 40.0 (record: 67.8)
Total Swimming Yards: 0 yards (record: 3300)
Total Strength Training Days: 2 times
Total Workout Hours: 4:51:01 (record was 11:00:19)
This coming week is more of the same - trying to figure out my training routine. My friend Debbie gave ITT a new name... Scary Trainer. I like that much better. So, now he is ST instead of ITT.

I did lose another pound. It was a full week of Phase III and so far it's working! I was starting to plateau so any kind of downward movement is good news.
Monday: Bike 45 minutes. Lift (ST) in the evening.
Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes.
Wednesday: Bike 45 minutes. ST in the evening.
Thursday: Bike 45 minutes.
Friday: Run 30 minutes with intervals.
Saturday: Bike 1:20 minutes.
Sunday: Run 1:10 with intervals.

I don't like any of the choices for president but I like her the least.
I can enumerate a whole list of reasons why. And my gut is rarely wrong, among tops on that list.

I am thinking of moving to Canada for the next term or so.
The whole damn lot of them can go to hell.

Okay. Time for a work update

We had a RIF. As in Reduction in Force. As in Lay Off. Aka people lost their jobs. Sigh...

I still have a job.

But I lost one full time person on my staff but he was expecting it and made the communication much easier on me.

I also moved a team of 5 to another business unit. And lost about 7 contract employees.

We are down but we are not out.
And we have been down this road before.
We will survive.

Experience is nothing if we don't build up our resilience. And our strength in our believe in our team. Not just as co-workers but as a family away from family.

Like I said.
We will survive.
And grow again.

Week 7 Training Recap

Wow. What a week! ARG! It's been tough. Two days of management offsite from 8 am until who knows when. And a ton of catching up on the other days, because you know... work and life just keeps on chugging away and you have to hurry to catch up when you are away. So the week wasn't that good. The other thing is that I am tired from the weight workouts. I have to work on the schedule. And ITT said that he is going to be sending me some kind of interval training thing for me to do. So I will be even more tired. Isn't that just ducky??
Monday: Run 30 minutes. Lift (SWITT) in the evening. 2.4 miles in the morning. TOUGH ITT workout after work!
Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes. Official Rest Day. I had a meeting at work from 8am until about 9pm when I left the restaurant for after dinner with the work crowd. I hate spending the whole day with people I work with. Hate it Hate it Hate it!!
Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the evening. No cardio in the morning. It was too ambitious to think that I would be able to wake up at 4am to get in some semblance of a cardio workout. Right. Workout with ITT after work.
Thursday: Bike 45 minutes. Bike 12 miles in the morning. It felt really really good. Really.
Friday: Run 30 minutes. 3.86 miles.
Saturday: Bike 45 minutes. 15.8 miles. I ate way too much today. I am starting to hate Cheat Days.
Sunday: Run/Walk 60 minutes. Managed to get a 5.15 mile run in today. Yahoo!

Total Running Miles: 11.4 miles (record: 26.9 miles)
Total Biking Miles: 27.8 (record: 67.8)
Total Swimming Yards: 0 yards (record: 3300)
Total Strength Training Days: 2 times
Total Workout Hours: 4:03:12 (record was 11:00:19)
So, next week is still in flux. NO idea what I am going to do for training. I need my schedule to settle down a bit, that's one thing that I DO know. I am figuring out that the morning after my training with ITT, I need to take the morning off. I can working in the evening but one of the reasons I ended up working out in the mornings, is that the hit ratio for evening workouts was really low. We will see how we do and adjust accordingly.
Monday: Run 30 minutes. Lift (SWITT) in the evening.
Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes.
Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the evening.

Restaurant Review: Shika

Last night, we went to a new Japanese restaurant a half mile up in Coolidge Corner. Shiki is underground and a bit unassuming. It used to be an Italian place which was quite good. We wondered about how busy they would be but soon found out when within the half hour the place was packed and it was standing room only. Thank goodness we got there early!

What I thought was a sushi place was much much more than that. Try Japanese tapas. Really. Although they do have sushi, their focus are small plates of classic Japanese dishes with a slight twist. Not to mention pages and pages of sake!

I ended up getting a flight of sake which came with four full ounce glasses holding 4 different types of sake. They were all very good and very different. It's something I never would have thought about, sake being different, if I had not had a chance to compare a few side by side. They have different depth and character, fragrance and flavors. Amazing.

We got the agedashi tofu. It was classic. Very good. Also a halibut carpaccio that was so good, we ordered a second one, along with the tuna carpaccio which was heavenly. A spring roll that was not fried, a beef tataki roll wrapped around veggies that I didn't care for but which Joseph scarfed up, including the half piece that I left on my plate. Their house special friend rice wasn't all that good and I ended up ordering another bowl of steam white rice - a tried and true fall back.

The seaweed salad was excellent and we ended up getting a spicy tuna roll which we asked for extra spicy, a tuna nigiri which could have passed for toro, a tobiko sushi which is classic and one of my favorites, along with a yellowtail sushi. All of it was excellent.

We paired all of it with a nice French Pinot - a burgundy. The first bottle was corked but the second was excellent.

I am so glad to see a Japanese place that isn't just a sushi bar or one of those "big griddle, flying knives and salt shakers with loud banging" teppanyaki places with chefs in tall hats!

Restaurant Review: Rustic Kitchen

Last week during out Leadership Offsite, we went to Rustic Kitchen at Park Plaza. I had heard of it and I think I vaguely recall going to the one in Hingham a few years ago with Joseph and his sister's family.

All I can say is I am so glad that Rustic Kitchen has come to Boston and it's easy to get to. In a nutshell, what a great meal!

The wine was terrific but the menu was outstanding. Being on my diet where I can't eat white carbs, I was a little worried. But I should have relaxed.

The first course was a tuna tartar big enough to share. It was mixed with bits of avocado in the shape of a round disk. Thinly slice avocado wrapped around the whole thing with a parmasean crisp.

Dinner was braised short ribs. I substituted the mashed potatoes for extra broccolini. It was wonderfully presented, but most importantly, it was tender and the texture was melt-in-your mouth.

I didn't get dessert but everyone else did and they all seemed to enjoy it. I ended up cheating with a glass of tawny port instead. I can have wine, after all. Port is just, um... boiled wine.

Anyway, the service was exceptional, the ambience was modern and clean without being austere.

I would definitely go there again, whether it's for business or family and friends or something more intimate.

Highly recommended!


Cheat Day Report

Okay. Let me just say that the Cheat Day was nice but I ate way too much. This was only the second cheat day I've had in 5 weeks and so I suppose overindulgence was inevitable. Going forward, it will be better since I get a day off of the food plan once a week.

So, to sum it all up... I managed to have a hazelnut croissant fresh from the oven, three slices of a large Upper Crust Pizza, some Korean noodles and Korean style sushi called kimbap. Then I had a taste of a couple of cookie (literally a in a bite) and a slice of lemon pound cake that the neighbor brought over to thank Joseph for clearing her walk during the last snow storm (remind me to tell that story). And for dinner, we went for sushi. I had 2800 calories. OMG. Someone should have stopped me. And at the end of the day, it wasn't all that good. Ya know? Half way through the day, I thought to myself that thinking about what to eat is a lot of work. I liked having the diet plan where I knew exactly what I could have. And I really missed it. I can't wait to get back on the food plan tomorrow.

So, lesson learned. I should just eat normally instead of trying to cram a month's worth of food experiences in one day.

Oh. And it's 7 more days until the next cheat day.

New eating plan

So, did I mention that I signed up with ITT again? 20 more sessions, complete with nutrition counseling.

Anyway, I received my new Phase 3 food plan. Basically, I am cycling through Phase II all in a week. Phase II consisted of 3 weeks. The first week, low carbs. The second week, some carbs. The third week, a little more carbs. And none of is to the level of carbs I used to eat on a regular basis. For Phase II, I am doing week one for the first two days. Then week two for the next two days. Then week 3 for the next two days. And the seventh day is a cheat day. I can eat whatever I want. Anything. As much as I want. Yah. I can't wait. Tomorrow is my cheat day before I transition to Phase III.

I will be repeating Phase III until I reach my weight goal. The best part of this is that as soon as I start getting a little bored and anxious, it's time for a cheat day!

So, I am making a list of everything I want to eat tomorrow before I transition to Phase III. Sould be interesting. And Pizza is definitely on the list. And Sushi. I am thinking of a few other things, too.


Caviar and Champagne

Happy Valentine's Day. I know. It was yesterday. It sort of snuck up on me this year. Usually we do something. Or at least try to. A big dinner out, a weekend at a Bed and Breakfast. But not this year.

I had to work. Work is hell these days. Too much STUFF going on at work.
And Joseph's work is no better right now.

Anyway, Joseph found time to get me a wonderful present. Shorts and t-shirt and special unbelievably soft walking on a cloud pair of socks. All from the Life is Good store. I love my surprises.

Of course, I didn't have a gift because that is the kind of person I am. I will leave it to you to fill in the blanks. But... I did get him three really nice cards.

After work, Joseph got me from work and he led the way to the new BRIX in the financial district. They had just opened about a week ago. We usually just go to the South End store. They were having a caviar and champange tasting.

We ended up getting a couple ounces of caviar and some scotch. And 3 packs of very expensive homemade blinis to eat the caviar on. Yup.

Now all I have to do is wait for a cheat day so I can eat it.

So, there you go. Busy as hell and my Hunny Bunny finds a way to make it all special. Always.

Happy Hump Day

Is it Wednesday? It is? I am pinching myself. What a week so far and it's only HALF over.

First, Monday I renewed with ITT. I signed up for another 20 weeks with nutritional counseling. I have to admit, the guy knows what he is doing. I am on week 5 of a 5 week eating plan and I've lost 7 pounds at the most although I've gained two pounds this week. He says that this is the most relaxed week and it's to be expected but that I would be losing weight next week. He had better be right.

He also created a Phase 2 workout plan. There are two workouts that alternate since I see him twice a week. This time, we are doing PR Zone workouts which is two sets of exercises in reps of 10 or 8 or whatever and I do as many as I can in 12 minutes. Let me just say that I have never sweated so much during a weight workout. Ever. And I've done this before. And today, two days later, I am still hurting.

Tonight, I did the second set of PR Zone workouts. And I was so tired! So so tired. But I did it! I did more than I thought I would! It was rather amazing. So for 6 weeks, I have increased weights every single workout. Not too shabby.

I am kind of looking forward to this week ending. I am ready to get out of this no-weight-loss week! Saturday, I get a cheat day before I start cycling. I am pretty excited about it. So far, I have Pizza, croissants, and sushi in my mind for what I am going to eat on Saturday. I am sure that I am leaving out some things that are really tasty. I have to think some more about this.

Week 6 Training Recap

It's been sort of a slow-ish week in terms of cardio. I also made a conscious decision to take one rest day as a result of my general tiredness. Actually, it's more of a sleepiness like my heads is in a fog that won't go away. And I couldn't get to the pool! I am worried about my swim goal for the year. And yes, I know it's only Februrary! Sheesh. Anyway, I managed to maintain once again this week.
Monday: Run 30 minutes. Lift (SWITT) in the evening. No cardio. Just a very hard workout with ITT after work.
Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes. Bike 11.5 miles.
Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the evening. Easy run in the morning. Hard ITT workout after work.
Thursday: Bike 45 minutes. Bike 11.25 miles in the morning.
Friday: Run 30 minutes. Rest Day. I really needed one. Have been getting progressively tired all week. I need to get more sleep!
Saturday: Bike 45 minutes. 5.25 miles. No swimming. There are some sort of swim meet thing going on all week at the pool. VERY annoying.
Sunday: Run/Walk 60 minutes. 18.25 miles. No swimming again. ARG!!!

Total Running Miles: 7.65 miles (record: 26.9 miles)
Total Biking Miles: 45.0 (record: 67.8)
Total Swimming Yards: 0 yards (record: 3300)
Total Strength Training Days: 2 times
Total Workout Hours: 4:16:58 (record was 11:00:19)
Next week is going to be REALLY REALLY HARD. I have two days of meetings that start at 8am. Another one that starts in the morning that I have to spend the rest of the week preparing and finalizing the presentation for. What I would not give for a postponement. Sigh... So the plan for the week as best as I know it:

Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes.

Chinese New Year Dinner #2

Last night, we went to our second Chinese New Year dinner. Yes. The second one. The first one was last week.

First, I love Chinese dinners. Not because I love Chinese food, which I do. But because I get 12 courses of Chinese food.


And last night was no different. Twelve courses at Peach Farm in Chinatown, serving some of the most authentic Chinese food around. And the best part is that the food is ON MY DIET! YES! Mainly because the tradition is to serve a lot of meat and seafood. Rice and noodles are considered fillers and they are typically served last at formal dinners. It has to do with showing your wealth as a host. That you can afford the more expensive foods. And by the time we get to the rice course, I am full from all the meet and seafood.

Joseph's parents came with us to this dinner. His father is going to help him put up the Elfa closet we bought from the Container Store a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, his mother is a vegetarian. Yes. Does not eat meat. Yes. The first 10 courses was meat and seafood. Yes. Just recently she did start eating a bit of seafood.

Anyway... it was a fun time all around. I am not missing rice all that much lately. Very odd.

Happy New Year

Welcome to the year of the Rat!

I am so glad that the Year of the Pig is over.
The year that you are born is typically very very hard.
Very. Hard.

Last year was the Year of the Dog.
That's Joseph's year.

So. If his year is hard, then I have a tough time.
If I have a hard year, then his has a tough time.
We've now had two tough years in a row.
Not to mention that the Year of the Pig was the GOLDEN Year of the Pig.
That means it was especially tough.

And so... I am celebrating the Year of the Rat.
Thank GOODNESS for the Year of the Rat.
We should have another ten years of relative peace and quiet.

I don't know why but I am tired. Very very tired. I guess I can chalk it up to more working out. Weight lifting takes a lot out of you. And with the kind of weight lifting that ITT does, it takes out double.

I am also on week 2 of the Phase 2 diet plan. Maybe it's the combination of the two.

I really want a pizza.
A big one.
With lots of meat and extra cheese.
Thin crispy crust.
All to myself.

I wonder when I get a cheat day.
ITT hasn't said.

I am gonna ask him.
Maybe I'll go out for all you can eat sushi.
I wish there was a place around here that served all you can eat sushi.

I am just so daggum tired...

Week 5 Training Recap

It's been a very long week. Things have happened at work, I've had all day meetings that cut into my workouts but I needed to maintain. All I could think of was maintain maintain maintain... And so I did.

And it's going to get worse before it gets better. Really.

Monday: Run 30 minutes.Walked to 30 minutes. My whole body hurts from the Saturday SWITT session. Let me die.
Tuesday: Bike 30 minutes, swim optionDone. Actually I biked for 45 minutes. Decided to eat dinner instead of swim.
Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the PM. No cardio in the morning; had to come in early for a meeting. Pffft! SWITT at 7pm.
Thursday: Bike 30 minutes. Done. Thank goodness! 8 miles in the morning.
Friday: Run 30 minutes, SWITT in the afternoon, swim option. SWITT but no swim. I am getting a little worried about the swimming. Or lack thereof...
Saturday: Bike 45 minutes, swim optionOkay. Talk about backwards! I managed to run 5.1 miles though.
Sunday: Run/Walk 60 minutes, swim option. What a day! Okay. I do not do triathlons. BUT, since it's been such a dreary week in terms of working out, I decided to tackle all of it. Yes. ALL. OF. IT. So. I biked 16.6 miles, I ran 3.15 miles, and I swam 2600 yards. Yes. I did. Yes, indeedy. Yup yup yup. And I felt pretty damn good about it, too!

Total Running Miles: 9.75 miles (record: 26.9 miles)
Total Biking Miles: 36.60 (record: 67.8)
Total Swimming Yards: 2600 yards (record: 3300)
Total Strength Training Days: 2 times
Total Workout Hours: 5:36:42 (record was 11:00:19)
I am starting to lose track of my workouts. Work is starting to kill me a bit, which means longer hours which means shorter workouts, etc etc etc, and this weekend the in-laws are coming to visit. So with that and all the age old conflict of priorities issues that everyone faces, I am giving it my best and next week the plan looks like this.
Monday: Run 30 minutes. Lift (SWITT) in the evening.
Tuesday: Bike 45 minutes.
Wednesday: Run/walk 30 minutes. SWITT in the evening.
Thursday: Bike 45 minutes.
Friday: Run 30 minutes.
Saturday: Bike 45 minutes.
Sunday: Run/Walk 60 minutes.

ITT report

So, another session with ITT tonight. I will tell you, it gets harder with each session. I have gone UP in weight every single session. One more session to end week four. That means for EIGHT sessions, I have GONE UP IN WEIGHT for EVERY SINGLE EXERCISE.

Someone shoot me now.

And just when I was thinking to myself that "this is getting boring" and "I am dreading this routine," ITT says to me, "one more session and you will get another set of workouts."

Oh. Really?
"Yeah. I like to change routines every four weeks. Keep you sharp."
Oh. Hmmm.
"Two more workout sets. Alternating weeks again."
Oh. Okay.
"Keeps things exciting."
Ok. Alrighteeeeeee....

The guy is weird. Reads my mind. And when I whine, he is totally unfazed. Anyway...

One more day of this Week One Diet of Phase II. ONE. MORE. DAY. Tomorrow we are going to the first of two Chinese New Year dinners. The next one is next Friday. Anyway, if it is traditional, it will be 12 courses. A variety of soups, seafood, poultry, meat, including LOBSTER! I can eat these things - I am pretty much on a VERY LOW carb diet this week. Luckily, the rice and noodles are served last. THANK GOODNESS!!!

Starting Sundahy, it's Phase II Week 2. Same as this week, except I get to add a piece of fruit (not banana), 1 piece of bread, 1/8 cup of brown or basmati rice (1/8??? WHY BOTHER???), or 1/4 of sweet potato (which I love). All I know is that I had better lose some weight on this stupid diet.

I have decided that the first meal on my first cheat day will be ... SUSHI!!! YES!!!

I bit the bullet

The Magic Bullet. I broke down and bought it. My good friend Cher has one and I remember, I laughed when she told me she had one. I was like, "huh? A bullet? What is it again??"

So this morning, I am sitting in bed in the usual way, drinking my coffee in the usual way (one eye open, one eye closed, and wishing that I was asleep), and watching Channel 6, which is in between the news channels 5 and 7. Anyway, this morning's infomercial du jour was... The Magic Bullet.

You can make GUACAMOLE in this thing. I LOVE guacamole.

I also got the upgrade pack with the additional blade, bullet cups and lids. If you are gonna go for it, might as well go for the whole hog.

I'll let you know how it goes.
