Food Food Food: The Rundown

So, we are at a wedding at Anthony's Ocean View in Connecticut. First, it's surprisingly nice! It's right on the ocean in the middle of a residential area and it looks quite over-the-top fancy on the outside withot being gaudy.

It was a short ceremony - the best kind - and then it was on to dinner.

I thought the appetizers were the dinner!!
There was:
  • Appetizers - about 20 different chafing dishes and displays
  • saladas - regular, seafood, squid, mushroom, etc
  • 3 or 4 different types of pasta
  • Rissotto
  • Prime rib
  • Cake and cookies
  • Pastries and fruit - including chocolate covered strawberries, fruit, mini cheese cake, and carrot cake
  • Coffee
  • Lemoncello
  • Congnac
  • Bananas Foster - my favorite!
  • and ice cream bar.
And if that weren't enough... we had a Dalmore cigar malt.

This was a wedding dinner to be topped. Seriously.
I wonder how much I have to burn to meet my Body Bugg requirements?
I cannot begin to imagine!

Bit the Bullet: Body Bugg

I bit the bullet and I finally ordered the Body Bugg. I'd first heard of it on the Biggest Loser and I've been looking at it for over a year. And I finally did it.

I used their calculator, and their definitions, I spend the day doing LIGHT activity. When I run, it is considered MODERATE, and when I lift it is considered VERY HEAVY or something.

So at my current weight, my BMR is 1321. At my goal weight it's 1234. That is what it takes to keep me alive. That means keeping my systems running so I do not fizzle out like some Borg.

Then I started plugging in the numbers and at my current weight the calories a day I need to MAINTAIN is:
  • Light = 1774
  • Moderate = 1900
  • Weights = 2151
To lose half a pound of weight a week, I need to substract 250 calories a day from the above. Now, this doesn't include water or any of that or the fact that you could gain muscle weight, etc.

Then I plug in the numbers for my goal weight. And to maintain that, I need the following daily calories:
  • Light - 1608
  • Moderate = 1722
  • Weights = 1950
Wow. The body is so amazingly efficient that it sucks if you like to eat. So that is my situation. I either learn to eat differently, learn to like a little less food every day, live a little longer (according to this scientist guy I know who ran a lab studying our friend, the blueberry). OR I can be fat, eat a lot, and basically die younger.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Ok. Thought I'd share.

Hopefully the Body Bugg will help me control my eating. I love numbers. So knowing is going to be better than not knowing. Keeps me from making excuses and takes most of the guess work out of it. I heard it on the news this morning - calories in, calories out... as complex as the body is, it is amazingly simple.

Random Thought: Where Am I?

You know it's especially bad when you wake up and wonder what hotel you're in. And you have to remind yourself what city you're in. And then you panic because you can't remember where you parked the car. And remember there's a garage. And then you get a headache trying to remember where the garage is.

Due to the big reorg at work, I am traveling again, it seems. This is the first trip in a long time. First leg is Dallas.

I am at the sushi bar alone.
Well, not really alone if you count the other 3 people who are alone.
Ok. We're all "un-alone."

Anyway, in the old days, we all would have had books or a newspaper.
Tonight? We;re all reading our Blackberries.

Even though I sit at the computer ALL DAY!

That is how busy I am.
And if I had looked and gone shopping and bought that bag...
I am sure it would be beautiful and I would love it.

Done with Book Reviews

It's on my goal. To read a buncha books this year. Let me say that I am fulfilling that goal. But I don't have time to post about it and do all that review writing. I have decided to let keener minds than mine and who are better flourishing a pen (or computer keyboard) do all the book reviews. They are all online. All you have to do is just google it.

So, I am done.Done done done with writing book reviews.

I will add that I read two books earlier this year (I think it was something like April) and I kept moving it from one task list to another. So, everyone is just going to have to trust me. I read them. And that's it.

Streak Finished

After 18 days, it's done.

Yesterday I cancelled Scary Trainer for the first time in 2 years. And today, after signing up for a half marathon, I didn't run. We went to the race and Joseph ran but I just got coffee, ate a donut, and stood around at the finish. Like a veal. Tethered to that finish line.

I am so tired. In fact, I am so tired that I can't find the right word for how I feel. I think "fatigue" is a good word, the best word I can find. But it is still an understatement.

With the changes at work, and all the added driving, meetings, workload, etc. I think I am not only mentally tired, but also physically tired.

Bones and Joint Update

Ankle: sore only after a had Scary Trainer workout or when I run longer than my previous longest run. Seems to be ok in general though.

Wrist: Still sore. Getting less sore but it is sure taking it's time. Having a hard time riding the bike though. Sheesh.

Right Hand: scars and discoloring but ok.

Right Hand: new flesh, turns purple underneath sometimes, in general okay as long as I am careful.

High Cholesterol

I am so bummed out. I got the results of my latest blood test and my cholesterol is HIGHER than when I first went on Lipitor. I bet it's the bacon every morning. I thought that taking Lipitor meant there were no limits. But sadly, I was mistaken. This means I need to go back to quarterly testing, cutting out bacon, limiting red meat to 3 times a week (BAH!) and taking some fish oil.

The good news is that my HDL is high and my Triglycerides are within the normal range. It's just my LDL which is 3 points below the new standard and much higher than the old standard. Of course, the new standard came out becaues people were getting so fat they had to reset the standard to the population. It's like those stupid weight charts. Since everyone is fat or obese, let's just make the standard change to fit the fat ajd obese. Idiotic.

Anyway... my missing in the next 4 months is better eating, exercising more regularly, getting my body fat down (which is different that the usual "I must lose weight" mantra).

All I gotta say is...

I more than doubled in just 3 days. And rumor has it, there could be more.

The last week has been a flurry of activity. I went from 1 group, 4 managers, 74 people to 5 groups, 8 managers, and 165 people. And in a week, a month, who knows when but SOON, I could be getting 1 more manager, 6 more people and another whole group. And maybe up to 3 more groups in the next 6 months. Maybe. Hopefully not. GOOD LORD!

Oh, and my very Own Admin who wants CONTROL of my CALENDAR!!! Does she not know how sacred my calendar is?? Obviously not. And I also indirectly inherited my New Boss's Admin. A whole new set of Admins to get used to.

Oh, did I mention that? I have a New Boss. Yah. I have a New Boss, too.

I've been in more meetings and reviews than I can count. Strangely enough, none have been with my New Boss. I met with him about a week ago when we talked about the POSSIBILITY of all this. And then, POOF. The possibility became REALITY and I've been running on high and on fumes ever since.

So next week I am driving to 3 "near" offices to meet with the new people. Then next week I am having all my managers come in for 2 days of meetings. And then the following week, I am doing The Epic Journey.

I leave for Salt Lake City on Monday afternoon. Tuesday morning I'm in the office. Then Tuesday afternoon I fly to Dallas. Then Wednesday in Dallas. Thursday morning I go to Cincinnati. Meetings inthe afternoon. Then Friday morning, I go to Raleigh. Meetings mid-day. That evening I fly out of Raleigh and come home.

The trip from hell.
I was going to spend the weekend in Raleigh and see my sister who I miss so much! But the tickets got tricky and the price got higher and what a damn cluster! So not this time. It's just as well. I'd probably be too cranky by the time the weekend rolled around.

All I got to say is I better not be catching any swine flu!!!


And while I'm at it...

...I think I'll start with a new Louis Vuitton handbag.



Random Thought: New Clothes

I need some professional looking new clothes. In my new role, I am more visible to, and hanging out more around/with, the high mucky mucks. I went to a meeting this morning and even the HR woman was dressed better than me! Good grief, even the senior exec's admin looked bettr!

Gotta lose more weight.

Starbucks mornings

When I drive to work, I park in one of two different garages depending on circumstance.

At one garage, I just walk to the office without fanfare.
At the other garage, however, the walk is a little longer and there are a couple of Starbucks on the way to the office. I love to stop in and get a freshly brewed cappucino or iced coffee...

And today is one of those mornings.

First day of fall

Actually, the first day of meterological fall. And it's very crispy out. I think that fall is here already. And it's gonna be a tough winter. Thank goodness we have a snow mower.

Can't complain, though.
At least we had one month of summer this year.
